Baby, it's cold outside. And what better way to warm up than a nice cozy cup of comforting hot chocolate. As the temperature dips around NYC, Aigner Chocolates wants to help you stay warm with two new beverages made from ruby chocolate.
The hot drinks are a fun twist on a classic treat. Both the "ruby hot chocolate" and a "rubiccino" are made with the rosy-colored chocolate (which has a sweeter and slightly fruitier taste) and topped with pink whipped cream and ruby chocolate shavings.
Co-owner and chef Mark Libertini created the new drinks using ruby chocolate, which comes from the ruby cocoa bean.
According to Libertini, there are limited quantities of ruby chocolate sold around the country, and Aigner Chocolates is one of a few shops selling it.
Founded in 1930, Aigner Chocolates is one of the oldest chocolate and confectionery shops in NYC. Owned by the same family for three generations, the Aigners recently passed the recipes and traditions of chocolate making to the new owners, Mark Libertini and Rachel Kellner.
