On Tuesday, March 5th, Austin Public, the local watering hole on Austin Street in Forest Hills, is celebrating Mardi Gras and partnering with the founders of Together Helping Others, Inc. to raise funds for a division of their organization known as Backpacks For The Street.
Backpacks For The Streets’ mission is to assist the homeless in the surrounding five boroughs by handing out backpacks filled with everyday necessities, such as toiletries, food and more.
The organization has been handing out backpacks to the homeless since March of 2018 and has received assistance from the owners of Austin Public in the past.
During this year’s Mardi Gras celebration, Austin Public and Backpacks For The Streets will have a 50/50 raffle. Half of the proceeds of the raffle will be donated to the organization to help their mission.
Other fun details about the Mardi Gras party include:
- Live music
- Crawfish and jambalaya.
There will not be a cover charge for this event. Additionally, upon entry enjoy a complimentary mask to dress up in true Fat Tuesday fashion.
If you are in the mood to give back to those in need, grab anything purple, gold and green and head over to Austin Public for the Mardi Gras and fundraising party on March 5th. The owners and employees of both Austin Public and Together Helping Others, Inc. will be there to put on a fun celebration while helping the homeless.
