NYC is home to museums, restaurants, and even some of the best apartment buildings in the country, but what really makes NYC stand out amongst other major cities? The answer: Broadway! It’s safe to say that the New York theatre scene is stronger and more dynamic than ever with several new shows and revivals. Case in point: we had a lot of trouble narrowing this list down to just 10 shows we’re stoked about in 2026. (And that’s not to mention all the exciting Off-Broadway productions we couldn’t fit here.)
Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York)
What begins as an awkward chance encounter quickly unfolds into a heartfelt exploration of connection in Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York). This Tony-nominated musical follows two mismatched strangers navigating the city, and their own loneliness, through a single, transformative day. Featuring a charming contemporary score by Jim Barne and Kit Buchan, the show pairs laugh-out-loud humor with moments of genuine emotional depth. With its minimalist staging and intimate storytelling, Two Strangers captures the magic of unexpected connections and the quiet ways they can change everything.
Operation Mincemeat
Inspired by an unbelievable true story, Operation Mincemeat turns a high-stakes World War II espionage mission into a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud musical. This Tony-nominated production follows a small team tasked with executing an audacious deception plan to outwit the Nazis, blending sharp wit with surprising emotional depth. Featuring a wildly inventive score by the show’s creators, the musical shifts seamlessly between satire and sincerity, brought to life through virtuosic performances and rapid-fire storytelling. Smart, irreverent, and unexpectedly moving, Operation Mincemeat proves that history can be both thrilling and hilarious.
Maybe Happy Ending
Blending heartfelt humor with sharp emotional insight, Maybe Happy Ending tells the intimate story of two obsolete helper robots who form an unexpected connection in a near-future Seoul. This Tony-winning musical explores what it means to love, remember, and let go, using a gentle sci-fi premise to ask deeply human questions. With a tender score by Will Aronson and Hue Park and inventive staging that brings the robots’ world to life, the show unfolds through quietly powerful musical moments that linger long after the curtain falls. Warm, wistful, and surprisingly funny, Maybe Happy Ending leaves audiences deeply moved.
&Juliet
Combining the songs of superstar producer Max Martin with a twist on the classic Shakespeare play, “&Juliet” truly has something for everyone. This Tony-nominated musical poses the question, “What would have happened if Juliet didn’t kill herself?” and answers through stunning dance numbers choreographed by Jennifer Weber and powerful musical numbers, such as Demi Lovato’s “Confident.” Follow William Shakespeare (Austin Scott) and his wife Anne Hathaway (Tony nominee Betsy Wolfe) as they weave through the tale and leave audiences in stitches.
SIX
Performed for the first time at the 2017 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, “SIX the Musical” lived many lives in the UK before making its way to Broadway and has easily become one of the most popular shows on the Great White Way, as well as on the internet. What makes “SIX” so unique, and perhaps so popular, is that it’s performed in the style of a pop concert. With a short run time of 80 minutes (no intermission), “SIX” still manages to retell the stories of the six wives of Henry VIII with incredible music numbers, fun choreography, and a hilarious book that’s both educational and entertaining. Hadestown
If you’re of a fan of Greek mythology, then this musical is for you. Even if that subject doesn’t immediately strike your fancy, Anaïs Mitchell’s music is bound to draw you in with folk influence and haunting lyrics. Retelling the tale of Eurydice and Orpheus, “Hadestown” is a sung-through musical (like “Hamilton” or “Les Misérables”) that originally captured hearts as a concept album released by Mitchell in 2010.
The Outsiders
Based on the 1967 novel with the same title, “The Outsiders” is the 2024 Tony winner for Best Musical and has become a viral sensation. The musical, like the book, is told from the perspective of 14-year-old Ponyboy Curtis, the main protagonist, as he tries to survive rival gang life in Tulsa, Oklahoma. With music and lyrics by Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance from the folk-rock band “Jamestown Revival”, along with Justin Levine, the musical has a folksy vibe to it, providing audiences with catchy tunes, great dance numbers, and a reminder to “stay gold.”
Death Becomes Her
Based on the 1992 film of the same name, “Death Becomes Her” is a new musical to hit the Broadway stage, led by some of Broadway’s greats including Megan Hilty (“9 to 5,” “Wicked”) and Jennifer Simard (“Mean Girls,” “Company”). The musical also stars former member of “Destiny’s Child”, Michelle Williams, as Viola Van Horn. The show tells the story of two women vying for the affection of the same man who resort to magical methods that have awful consequences. Praised by critics and given many a great review, Death Becomes Her is a show that you won’t want to miss.
The Great Gatsby
You know him and you love him; Jay Gatsby has made his way to the Broadway stage in this new production that opened in 2024. Based on the 1925 best-seller, “The Great Gatsby” musical captures the glamour, ambition, and heartbreak of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel through a dazzling blend of jazz-era music and the tragic tale of Jay Gatsby's unrequited love for Daisy Buchanan. With electric dance numbers and a sizzling score, this show will be a hit for the whole family.
Hell’s Kitchen
Hear the rhythm of the city as Alicia Keys' "Hell's Kitchen” takes center stage on Broadway. Inspired by her own upbringing, this semi-autobiographical musical tells the story of 17-year-old Ali, a gifted young musician navigating family struggles, self-discovery, and the allure of her New York neighborhood. Featuring a mix of Keys' iconic hits like "Fallin',” “No One,” and "Empire State of Mind," alongside new songs, the production captures the grit and soul of chasing dreams.
