Eddie's: A Sweet Shop for a Sweet Tooth
Eddie's: A Sweet Shop for a Sweet Tooth
Everyone is counting down the days for shorts and sandals. And nothing beats the summer heat like a good scoop - or two - of ice cream. If you’re looking to satisfy that summer craving, look no further than Eddie’s Sweet Shop, located on the corner of Metropolitan Ave and 72nd Road.
Eddie’s Sweet Shop is supposedly one of the oldest ice cream joints in New York City, and it feels that way. Step inside, and you'll be met with a wave of nostalgia. Seating options include bar stools at the ice cream counter, tables with simple decorative metal chairs or wooden booths for a little more privacy.
The sweet shop feels like not much has changed. From the appliances to the candy display case, the shop provides an early 1900’s atmosphere. Even though the décor may be old-school, don’t let that fool you.
The scoops are fresh every day. All 18 flavors of ice-cream, including the toppings, are homemade. Some great flavors include coffee chip, butter pecan, and maple walnut. And do not forget the toppings like hot fudge, or butterscotch. Of course, it is not ice-cream without the whipped cream and cherry on top -- and it’s no ordinary, wimpy whipped cream either. Eddie’s is serving up some good, thick whipped cream.
So, this summer if you find yourself looking to satisfy a sweet tooth, head on over to Eddie’s Sweet Shop.
They are open all afternoon and into the evening, scooping some mouth-watering deliciousness that is sure to cool off your taste-buds.
