As New York City’s dining rooms are welcoming more diners, Michelin has named two Forest Hills restaurants the best spots for cheap eats in New York City. Memories of Shanghai and Spy C Cuisine are among 131 restaurants in New York City that received the 2021 Bib Gourmand distinction this year.

Both Chinese restaurants are located on Austin Street.

Located at 68-60 Austin St., Memories of Shanghai, a family-owned and operated dim sum restaurant known for its delicate soup dumplings and simple menu.

"The limited menu speaks to the narrow focus of this humble storefront, and no matter the hour, you can always spot a chef in the back carefully folding dumplings," the guide noted.

At Spy C Cuisine, inspectors revealed the "Sichuan haunt is a welcome surprise."

The menu "wavers between Sichuan and Hunan cooking, but dishes like crispy cucumber salad or braised fish with pickled mustard greens reveal a talented kitchen."

Spy C is located at 72-06 Austin St.

Introduced in 1997, the Bib Gourmands are awarded to restaurants that earn the attention of Michelin inspectors for an affordable and remarkable dining experience.

In all, 131 dining options made the 2021 list, the first Michelin has released since before the coronavirus crisis.
